Make Your Own Vanilla Extract

 

This process is really simple. The hardest part is waiting for the extract to finish. It takes a couple months for the liquid to actually taste like vanilla.

Ingredients:

• Vodka - I got the cheapest kind, hopefully it won't affect the taste. $9 is perfect for my budget though.
• Vanilla Beans - I got some online from Beanilla. I did some research and getting them online was the cheapest option.
• Bottle - They are about $3 at Michael's
• Knife

First clean the bottles off and let them dry. Open the vanilla beans and smell that amazing smell!

Take a vanilla bean and cut it down the middle in half and lenthwise.

 

Cutting them exposes the vanilla paste on the inside which is what makes the flavor.

Put the bean in the jar and fill it with vodka.

 

Now let it sit for at least two months. The longer it sits, the more potent it will be.
